Alumni Spotlight: Turning Hardships into Greatness

Growing up, kids face different experiences, circumstances, and hardships. Some of us grew up in a two-parent household, some a one-parent household. Some of us had cars waiting for us by the time we got our driver’s license at 16, while some of us walked or rode the bus to school until graduation. Some of us experienced the loss of a loved one during high school.

This alumnus, Khaudry Holmes, experienced his own great circumstances and hardships throughout high school that have made him who he is today.

Today is Giving Tuesday! Today only, everyone around the world is participating in Giving Tuesday. For every dollar you donate, Dr. Susanne Carroll, retired VISD assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction and current Education Foundation board member, will match that dollar for dollar up to $1,000!

Students attending LA@VC ApplyTexas for college acceptance

Approximately 80% of Liberty Academy Credit Recovery at Victoria College (LA@VC) students have completed applications and have been accepted to Victoria College (VC) for the Spring 2021 semester.

Victoria ISD is excited to announce many fun holiday events for the entire family to attend this week, featuring VISD’s Fine Arts.

Victoria ISD’s Special Services Department will host its eighth annual “Winter Wonderland” event on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for students with complex needs within the district.

During the November Visual Art Teacher meeting, art teachers collectively chose four pieces of artwork to represent Victoria ISD for the Youth Art Month (YAM) State Capital Exhibit. Eight art pieces were brought to the Visual Art Teacher meeting; VISD is limited to submitting four art pieces due to enrollment.

We've found our 'AND'! Thank you to everyone who participated in the poll. We appreciate your input in the selection of our brand new official ampersand logo.

The logo has great value to the district and its students. It is the district’s goal to have 100% of its students each year having found their ‘And’, meaning they will leave high school prepared for a successful launch into career, military, college, and life in order to be contributing members of society.

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) is a concept that has been around for nearly two decades. However, it has only become “popular” over the last few years.
